Assessing your eligibility

Preparing your claim

If your business activities qualify you to make a claim, we will gather the necessary information to allow us to complete the technical narrative and cost analysis documents HMRC require. A sector specialist member of our team will analyse your business activities to determine the full extent of your qualifying R&D activities and costs, to allow us to maximise your claim. Once we’ve done that, it’ll go before our Quality Assurance Team who will make sure your application meets every one of our stringent quality assurance standards.

Submitting your claim

Once we’re fully satisfied we’ve built a comprehensive and strong claim, we will present our report to you for review. It will include a technical narrative, breakdown of the costs you’ve incurred in the course of your R&D activities and a summary showing how we’ve arrived at your total benefit figure. We won’t file anything until we have your seal of approval. Once you’re happy, we’ll amend your CT600 and file your application with HMRC.

Liaising with HMRC

The last thing you need is diary reminders to check on the progress of your application, or requests from HMRC for further information. We know how to minimise enquiries and ensure a smooth process which is why we take care of all of that for you, keeping you in the loop at all times of course.

Receiving your reward

Most claims take between four and six weeks to be processed by HMRC. RDEC claims can sometimes take a little longer. Once your claim has successfully been processed, you will be rewarded for your investment in innovation with a deduction in your Corporation Tax bill if you are profitable. If you are a loss-making organisation, you will see a tax-free benefit paid directly into your bank account at the end of the financial year.
